Information Technology in the Nonprofit Organizational Context
Information Technology (IT) diffusion rate amongst nonprofits is significantly lower than for-profit organizations. Current literature does not provide adequate explanation for drastically lower rate of adoption and use of IT in the nonprofit sector. Lack of knowledge base on nonprofit context is affecting practitioner’s ability to develop software systems that can penetrate nonprofit sector. As well as researcher’s ability to study strategical use of information systems by nonprofit organizations (NPOs). To address the lack of adequate knowledge base, this research project intends to conduct an in-depth community participatory study to examine nonprofit context in relevance to IT adoption and use.
